Underpass will continue to flood if warnings go unheeded

Until recently The Bog Meadows was the lowest point in Belfast, lying at the foot of the Belfast Hills and the ever-growing west Belfast urban sprawl. I say until recently because it was decided to dig an underpass below the lowest level.

Although our recent rainfall has been called unprecedented, any resident of the St James's or Village areas will verify that flooding is not!

Every year in my living memory of the Bog Meadows an unseasonal rainfall floods

It’s time for cribby and hango at the Olympics

I have been watching with interest Britain’s medal haul in the Olympics and it’s an impressive collection of gold, silver and bronze.

I must say I laughed when I read the text in Thursday’s Andersonstown News which asked why is it that in the Olympics the British only win medals in sports where the competitors sit down? Well spotted.

Lord Mayor bestowing legitimacy on prisoners

Recently, on seeing our Lord Mayor Tom Hartley at various hunger strike commemorations the penny finally dropped and I became reflective.

Thinking back to those dark days of 1981, when Tom himself was putting his life on the line by working for the beleaguered prisoners and speaking at various public meetings around the country, how times have changed.

Now 27 years later Tom, an Irish republican, is again present at hunger strike commemorations.

The fact that the Lord Mayor

Congrats to Paddy Barnes

Well done Paddy barnes in his olympic success.

It made me very proud to be from Belfast and I’ve been glued to the TV watching your fights along with the other Irish boxers.

Shame on BBC NI for not showing the quarter-final fight instead giving us more British cyclists – as if anyone here cares about them.
