The Belfast Media Group is a shareholder in the new Echo Group which publishes the lively border titles, Cavan Echo (weekly) and Monaghan Echo (monthly), launched in October 2006 and February 2007 respectively. The free titles are very strong in editorial and sports and are distributed door-to-door and in shops.
PricewaterhouseCoopers audited the circulation of the Cavan Echo at 17,125 and it has already received advertisements from Cavan County Council and the county's main businesses.
Available on the interenet in pageturning format, the Echo newspapers have transformed the face of the local press along the border are are poised for further growth.
